Kimberly 'Kimmy' Sylwester, 68
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 months, 2 weeks AGO
Kimberly Ann (Haas) Sylwester was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on Nov. 14, 1956, the third child of Wayne and Pepper (née Martin) Haas. She went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2025.
Kimmy grew up in La Puente, Calif., on a much-loved family farm. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Covina, Calif., and graduated from Edgewood High School in the same town in 1974. Following graduation, Kimmy worked for six years at a local K-Mart Corp. office.
In 1980, she moved to North Idaho to be closer to family. Before long, she had a position at the North Shore Resort (now known as The Coeur d’Alene Resort) on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Later, she held various positions at Center Partners, Inc. Through her various positions over the course of 40 years, Kimberly made many lifelong friends.
She met the love of her life, Scott Sylwester, through their church, Christ the King Lutheran Church. They were married April 16, 1988, and were blessed with two children, Samantha and Timmy.
Kimmy was an incredibly loving and dedicated mother. Timmy was diagnosed with autism at an early age and would be dependent on his parents and sister, Samantha, for the rest of his life. This meant a great deal of sacrifice and dedication, which Kimmy, Scott and Samantha did so willingly and lovingly.
Kimmy was gifted with a beautiful voice, using it to the glory of God by singing in the church choir, New Song Worship, as well as various solos duets, and more. She devoted her time and talents to various areas of the church, including serving as secretary of the congregation. She loved baseball and softball, playing third base for many years. She also enjoyed RV-ing, golf and anything that had to do with the water. When it came to football, they were a house divided; she was a devout Seahawks fan, while Scott was a Minnesota Vikings fan. Her best times were those spent with her grandchildren and family.
Kimmy was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Pepper. Survivors include her husband, Scott of Hayden, Idaho; daughter Samantha (Zack) Ray of Post Falls, Idaho; son Timmy Sylwester; and two grandchildren, Quinn and Lincoln. Brothers Mike (Nancy) Haas of Post Falls, and Tim (Sally) Haas of Wildomar, Calif.; nephews Nicholas, Chris, Brandon and niece Emily, along with nephews Matt and Kyle.
And He will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17
Thanks be to God, the Author and Giver of Life, for Kimberly Ann Sylwester. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
