Libby wins 2 more at Combo softball

BUTTE — And then it was six.

The Libby Loggers won two more games at the Laverne Combo softball tournament here Saturday, running their win streak to six games. 

The Loggers beat Class B Anaconda 4-1 and Butte Central 8-6, highlighting a day when the Northwest A teams went 5-1. 

Ronan took a 13-5 loss to Havre to finish 2-1 at the tournament. 


Libby 4, Anaconda 1

Rossi Baney had a solo home run and Rachel Kosters two doubles for the Loggers. Peyton Waggoner also hit a double and Bently Houston tripled and scored. 

Weslee MacDonald and Carmen Kohler combined for a five-inning three-hitter, each striking out five Copperheads. Kohler gave up no hits in two innings of work. 


Libby 8, Butte Central 6

Madison Vincent went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored, and Maddi Willis added a solo home run for the Loggers. 

Jayva Boehmier also had a double among three hits, and Baney drove in two more runs, including an RBI single that put the Loggers (11-9) up for good in the fourth inning, 7-6. 

Libby totaled 14 hits, with Kosters getting three and Houston two. Houston drove in three runs and Kosters two. 


Polson 15, Anaconda 0

Liz Cunningham hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Olivia Jore hit a two-run shot in the second, in a game that ended in the third inning. 

Jore added two doubles and finished with six RBIs. Ahri Rishing and Jaja Nichols had two RBIs each. 


Polson 18, Miles City 0

Jore hit two home runs in this one as well as a double, and she and Sam Rensvold (4-for-4, including a double and a triple) each drove in four runs. Ella Smith added a double to the Lady Pirates’ 15-hit attack. 

Rensvold threw all four innings in the circle for Polson (16-5-1), allowing one hit and fanning nine of the 15 hitters she faced. 


Columbia Falls 11, Glendive 3

Addy Bowler paced the Wildkats’ 13-hit attack with three singles, scoring three times. Annika Reid had Columbia Falls’ lone extra-base hit, a double; she drove in two runs. 

Kylie Gjesdal-Davis had two hits and drove in three runs; Onnika Lawrence and Alexa Friske each had two hits and scored twice. 

Katie Bulawsky threw two scoreless innings, fanning three. The Kats went 3-0 in Butte and are 15-6 on the season.
