PREP BASEBALL: Timberlake out in two in 4A play-in series

SPIRIT LAKE — Timberlake, which swept the 4A District 1 best-of-3 series to advance to the North qualifier of the state play-in tournament, fell to the second-ranked Cole Valley Christian Chargers 9-1 to finish the season 14-5.
Cole Valley Christian (22-5), will be the second seed at this week’s state tournament at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls, and will face third-seeded Marsh Valley (25-1) of Armino in the opening round of the double elimination tournament.
Sophomore Nate Beardsall scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning for Timberlake, which was limited to two hits.
Cole Valley Christian sophomore Lucas Guray struck out seven in the win.
