PREP SOFTBALL: Lakeland bows out in state 5A play-in game

MOSCOW — Lakeland, the 5A Region 1 runner-up, was held hitless by Skyview, the third-place team from District 3 in a 15-0 loss in a state play-in game at the Moscow School District Community Playfields on Saturday. 

Sophomore Ada Blackmore drew a walk to lead off the game for Lakeland, the lone baserunner for the Hawks, who finished 10-16. 

Skyview sophomore Makenna Shamy struck out six of 10 batters faced and drove in three runs. 

Skyview (14-14) advances to the state tournament starting Thursday at Skyview High in Nampa.

MOSCOW — The Bulldogs, the District 1-2 runner-up, fell to the Mustangs in a state 3A play-in game at the Moscow School District Community Playfields.

Grangeville finished 14-12.

Melba (8-13) advances to the state 3A tournament starting Thursday at Quad Park in Caldwell.
