STATE HIGH SCHOOL GOLF TOURNAMENTS: Genesis Prep, Kellogg boys tied for fifth after first day in 3A

BURLEY — Genesis Prep and Kellogg are tied for fifth after the first day of the state 3A golf tournament Monday at River’s Edge Golf Club.
Both are two strokes back of fourth-place Ambrose, and 20 shots behind first-place Declo.
Easton Towne of Kellogg is tied for 13th after shooting 82.
Byron Hammett of Genesis Prep is tied for 15th after shooting 84.
The tournament concludes today. The top four teams earn trophies, and the top 10 finishers earn medals.
Palmer Coleman of Priest River, last year’s state champion, is in sixth place after shooting 6-over 78. He’s seven shots back of the leader.
In the 3A girls tournament, Genesis Prep is 11th out of 12 teams entering today’s final round.

Miller eighth in girls tourney after first day
BUHL — Timberlake junior Malia Miller is in eighth place after shooting 97 on Monday in the first round of the state 4A tournament at Clear Lake Country Club.
Timberlake’s boys, led by Payden DeVore’s 88, are in seventh place after the first day.
Eli Blackmore of Bonners Ferry is tied for second in the 4A boys tournament after shooting 77, nine shots back of the lead.
The tournament concludes today.
