NIC GOLF: NIC frosh McNelly holds two shot lead after first day at NJCAA tourney

NEWTON, Kan. — North Idaho College freshman Eli McNelly shot a 6-under-par 66 to take the lead after the first day of the NJCAA Tournament at Sand Creek Station Golf Course on Tuesday. 

McNelly, from Olympia, Wash., leads the tournament by two strokes over Abe Bignell of McLennan (Texas).

NIC is currently seventh out of 24 teams with a 292, eight shots behind first-day leader Midland (Texas), who leads with a 284. 

The four-round tournament resumes today, and runs through Friday.

GARDEN CITY, Kan. — North Idaho College sophomore Rien Solodan is the top local at the NJCAA Tournament after the second round, carding a 171 after the second day of play on Tuesday at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course. 

NIC is 16th with a 687. 

Seminole State (Fla.) leads with a 588. 

The tournament continues today and concludes Thursday.
