The Whitefish Bulldogs baseball team split three games last week, picking up a resounding mercy-rule win over Plains-Hot Springs before falling to Columbia Falls and Bigfork in tough matchups, bringing their season record to 11-4.

Whitefish opened the stretch with a 17-2 demolition of Plains-Hot Springs on Monday, May 5. The Bulldogs exploded for nine runs in the first inning, closing out the win in three innings.

Calvin Eisenbarth led the way with a 2-for-2 performance at the plate, scoring three times and driving in three runs. Tait Orme also contributed two hits and two RBIs, while Drew Queen added a pair of RBIs. In total, Whitefish racked up 11 hits and 12 RBIs.

Reed Boyer pitched two shutout innings to earn the win, striking out four and allowing just two hits.

The Bulldogs couldn’t carry that momentum into Friday’s road contest against Columbia Falls. The Wildcats used a six-run fifth inning to pull away, blanking Whitefish 12-0 in five innings.

Whitefish managed just two hits in the loss — both by Tait Orme — and struck out six times. The Bulldogs committed three errors.

Reed Boyer took the loss on the mound, allowing two earned runs in two innings. Christian Schwaderer and Tait Orme also saw time on the mound.

In Saturday’s game against Bigfork, Whitefish again struggled to generate offense in a 9-2 loss. Ryan Conklin had a 2-for-3 day with a double and a walk, while Luke Dalen drove in one of the Bulldogs’ two runs and Finn Ryan drove in the other.

Whitefish managed five hits but committed seven errors.
