MY THUNDERS - WHAT A WHOPPER!
The biggest fish waited until the very last day of K and K week, and when it finally hit, there was a local lady on the other end of the line. Mrs. Martha Taylor took top honors for the 1975 K and K festival with a 26 lb. 8 oz. Kamloops caught in Garfield Bay. The trophy winner took 45 minutes to land, and Mrs. Taylor said, “I have been fishing this lake 25 years, and this sure is the biggest fish I ever caught.” Next in line was a 22 lb. 12 oz. Kamloops taken by Rod Bristow, Samuels. In other categories, Earl Thomas, Sandpoint, won the senior citizens’ award with his 6 lb. 4 oz. German Brown trout. Dick Ross, Sandpoint, won top honors in the largest game fish caught by someone 14-years and under with a 15 lb. 4½ oz. Kamloops. Largest cutthroat trout was a 1 lb. 15 oz. fish caught by Carl Converse of Sandpoint. Doug Towner of Hope boated the largest Dolly Varden, an 18 lb. 13 oz. lunker, while Roy Moe of Sandpoint captured the largest bass with a 6 lb. 14 oz. beauty.

The “bombs,” paper leaflets dropped from a civil air patrol aircraft flying low over Sandpoint, will bear pictures of one of the most recently developed jet bombers, and will give all the needed details for planning an enjoyable afternoon at Spokane AFB.
