Markus Ariston Ward, 57, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 10, 2025, in his home in Sandpoint, Idaho.

He was born Jan. 18, 1968, in Harbor City, Calif., to Phillip and Sandra Ward. He was the youngest of five siblings: Gerald, Troy, Phillip “Flip,” and Julia.

Markus had a lifelong passion for golf and dedicated his life to his family and friends. He was a huge supporter of the athletics of his community. He was a regular at golf tournaments, involved in co-ed softball and volleyball, and coached and cheered on many of his daughter's athletic teams.

He treasured the invaluable lifelong friendships he created. He could intuitively choose the friends he knew would become a valuable part of his family.

Markus worked and grew with the evolution of Schweitzer Mountain Resort for 32 years. Not long after starting his career at Schweitzer, he met the love of his life, Tina. They fell in love on the slopes, leading him to create a home and family in Sandpoint. He was a loving husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Ward of Sandpoint, Idaho; two daughters, Kaitlan and Kinzie Ward of Sandpoint, Idaho; siblings Gerald (Jerry) Ward and Julia Ward of Ukiah, California; and many cherished friends and family.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Troy and Phillip “Flip” Ward.
