Whitefish puts 2 boys, 3 girls in Northwest A semis

LIBBY — Whitefish took three of four spots in the girls singles semifinals, and Libby’s Ryan Beagle and Whitefish’s jack Oehlerich each dropped just one game while winning two matches Thursday at the Northwest A Divisional tennis tournament.

Excellent weather greeted the five teams playing on six courts.  

Beagle, the defending State A singles champ, will play Whitefish’s Owen Erickson in one semifinal Friday, while Libby’s Alderic Martineau will match up with Oehlerich in the other semifinal. 

On the girls’ side, Summer Newman of Polson and Ainsley Grubb of Whitefish battled for three sets before Newman prevailed, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (3). She will play the Bulldogs’ Emy Hanson in one semifinal. 

The second girls semifinal is all-Whitefish: Liesl Brust against Allie Shors. 

The boys and girls doubles brackets completed one round of matches on Thursday. The tournament continues Friday.
