Lady Lions sit 3rd at Western B track

MISSOULA — Eureka’s Lady Lions had a solid Friday at the Western B Divisional track and field meet, scoring 31 points to sit in third place at the two-day meet at MCPS Stadium.
Superior (45) led Missoula Loyola by one point after Friday’s eight girls events. Anaconda was right behind Eureka at 30.
The Lions found points in the 400-meter relay, finishing third, and from Karli Campbell (second in the pole vault and third in the long jump), Kricket Bridges (fourth in the pole vault) and Zoey Hanson and Gabe Wells (third and sixth in the shot put),
On the boys side, Loyola led the way with 54 points through eight events. Next were: Florence with 48, Darby 38, Superior 27 and Eureka with 21.
Eureka’s Jesse Day was a narrow second in the boys javelin, throwing 162 feet, 5 inches while Loyola’s Joe Grunow threw a personal-record 168-10.
The Lions’ Josh Lambertsen was second in the pole vault to Loyola’s Owen Oliver; Oliver cleared 12-6 and Lambertsen was one of three vaulters to make 12-0.
Lambertson was also sixth in the 400 and helped the Lions’ short relay finish fourth.
