GARDEN CITY — Christian Zannitto scored Easton Price on a squeeze bunt with one out on the bottom of the seventh as the top-seeded Owyhee Storm knocked out third-seeded Coeur d’Alene 2-1 in the state 6A championship series at Memorial Stadium on Friday.
Coeur d’Alene (18-7) finished fourth. Owyhee (27-3), the three-time defending state champion, advances to face No. 4 Mountain View (22-11) in a loser-out game today.
Coeur d’Alene took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Tyler Voorhees to score Harrison Trunkey-Evans in the top of the second inning. Owyhee tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly.
Coeur d’Alene pitcher Bam Fenter struck out six in six innings.
