The 18th annual Whitefish Marathon on Saturday attracted about 1,400 participants representing 43 states. The event featured a full marathon, a half marathon and a 5K run. 

In the marathon, Layne Ryerson from Helena set a new course record with a time of 2:36:17. The fastest female, with a time of 3:21:27, was Sarah Nicol from Raleigh, North Carolina. 

Local Micah Drew bested the half marathon course record he shared with Drew Coco by a fraction of a second, finishing in 1:11.02. Elizabeth Wasserman from Columbia Falls beat her course record by two seconds with1:19.23.
