COEUR d’ALENE — A Hayden man will spend up to 30 years in prison for child sexual abuse.
Matthew J. Seaton, 41, pleaded guilty in February to lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16, a felony punishable by up to life in prison.
Seaton sexually abused a child between March and October of 2024, according to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. During that period, prosecutors said Seaton engaged in “grooming behavior” with the child and “would guilt the child into keeping the abuse a secret.”
First District Judge John Cafferty sentenced Seaton on Thursday to 30 years in prison with parole eligibility after 10 years.
