Libby's a happening place
The Western News | UPDATED 7 months AGO
Last weekend in Libby, Lincoln County residents and others from Western Montana and Idaho were not lacking in things to do.
Libby High School hosted the 2025 Northwest Class A Divisional Tennis Championships, which saw native son Ryan Beagle win his fourth straight region title.
Whitefish and Columbia Falls dominated the rest of the tournament.
It was also opening weekend for Libby's Heritage Museum which featured a talk from local historian Jeff Gruber about the history of the making of Libby Dam, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
There was also a presentation about historical wildfire in the area by the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
And if that weren't enough, the Rotary Club of the Kootenai Valley hosted the annual youth fishing event at the Libby Fishing Pond.
Libby resident Doreen Tiffany enjoys leafing through binders of Libby history compiled by Pat Neils, right. Neils was at the Heritage Museum during opening-day festivities Saturday, May 17, 2025. She is planning on publishing a book this year centered on the history of the Neils family in Libby. (Scott Shindledecker/The Western News)
