Eureka's Day wins State B javelin

MISSOULA — Down to his last throw, Eureka’s Jesse Day unleashed his career best Saturday: A heave of 180 feet, 11 inches to win the javelin title at the State B track and field championships at MCPS Stadium.
He won the title by one inch, over Choteau's Kesston Thomas. Day threw 179-2 two weeks ago at the District 7-B meet.
Eureka’s boys scored 17 points at State. Missoula’s Loyola Sacred Heart won with 58, with Florence (53) second and Columbus (45) third. Loyola swept the team titles; the Breakers scored 95 points to 71 for Huntley Project. Shelby and Townsend tied for third with 31 points. Eureka scored six.
