Ruelle, a sophomore, won the state 5A championship in the 100- and 200-meter dash on May 17 at Mountain View High in Meridian. Ruelle won the 100 in 12.57 seconds, then the 200 in 25.79 after finishing fifth and sixth as a freshman. “Going into the finals, I was just thinking about last year and barely getting to the podium,” Ruelle said. “Once I saw my time in the 100, I felt more at ease. I really just wanted to get through the prelims and see where I was.”
