Lane Kaiser, 78, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
He was born in Kalispell on July 29, 1946, to Arnold and Arlene Kaiser. He grew up in Half Moon, across the street from the mill. He and his brother, Lee, had many great adventures there as children.
He worked at several mills in the valley before serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in South Korea and then Texas; but he longed for Montana. He eventually came home to the Flathead Valley, obtained a forestry degree and began working with the Forest Service in Spotted Bear. He always loved the peace he found when he was in the woods, surrounded by trees and nature.
After he left the Forest Service, he was hired by C&C Plywood, later to become Plum Creek, where he spent the next 35 years. He loved to say the mill bought him two homes, several vehicles, and raised his family.
Lane was a kind man, a strong man, a patient man, a devoted husband and a loving father, a protector, a provider, a man who always did what he believed was right, and a man who always put others before himself. Lane was also a great marksman and hunter, heavily involved with the VFW, a crossword and sudoku genius, and his own great comedian.
Lane is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Eva, his daughter, Mary and her husband, Paul, his son, Lane Jr. and his wife, Crystal, his grandchildren, Donny, Alex, Robert, and Caidan, his nephew, Billy, and his extended family, Roberta and Randy Cline.
Lane will be celebrated by his family and friends at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
