Dan Ray Litzenberger, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep May 24, 2025, at the age of 76. Dan was a selfless person who treated everyone in his life with great kindness and care, doing what was best for others first.
Dan shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Jan, who brought great joy to his life. He was a proud father to his two sons, Tim of Richland, Wash., and Bill of Post Falls. His life was given more joy with the addition of his daughter-in-law, Marisa, and two grandchildren, Caleb and Elizabeth Litzenberger.
Dan was a 1967 graduate of Coeur d'Alene High School and spent time at both North Idaho College and Walla Walla Community College. Dan loved playing sports as a kid, particularly baseball, and continued to be a fan as an adult, especially the Seahawks. His biggest love in life was spending time with his grandchildren. His incredible kindness and caring will be greatly missed by his family.
He is survived by his two sons, Tim and Bill; his daughter-in-law, Marisa; and two grandchildren, Caleb and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan; his parents, Eileen and Otto Litzenberger; and his brother, Darryl Litzenberger.
A visitation/viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls with a reception following at 1 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home — Hayden Gathering Center, 373 E.
