School districts announce summer food service programs

The Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland Joint school districts have announced sites and times for the 2025 USDA Summer Food Service Program.
The Summer Food Service Program provides free, healthy meals and snacks to kids 18 and younger Monday through Friday during summer months when school meals are not available. No paperwork is required. Sites will be closed July 4.
COEUR d'ALENE
• Breakfast: 8 to 9 a.m. Lunch: 11 a.m. to noon. June 16-Aug. 15. Lakes Middle School, 930 N. 15th St.
• Breakfast: 8 to 9 a.m. Lunch: 11 a.m. to noon. June 16-Aug. 15. Northwest Expedition Academy, 2008 W. Prairie Ave.
• Breakfast: 8 to 9 a.m. Lunch: 11 a.m. to noon. June 16-Aug. 15. Winton Elementary, 920 W. Lacrosse Ave.
Healthy Harvest through Eat Smart Idaho and Southwest Foodservice Excellence will offer an interactive farm-to-table experience with nutrition education during lunch service at Lakes Middle School every Monday, Northwest Expedition Academy every Wednesday and Winton Elementary every Friday.
Roving Chef with SFE will provide a hands-on cooking class for all ages. Through the summer months, SFE will partner with Eat Smart Idaho and hold cooking classes using items from the Healthy Harvest every other week during lunch service:
• Lakes Middle School — June 23, July 7 and 21 and Aug. 4.
• Northwest Expedition Academy — June 25, July 9 and 23 and Aug 6.
• Winton Elementary — June 27, July11 and 25 and Aug. 8
Trained coach-mentors will teach soccer fundamentals alongside critical social, emotional and life skills during the Soccer for Success program through the U.S. Soccer Foundation. Gear will be provided to children who attend. The program will be held at NExA every Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. for third-through-fifth graders and 10 to 11 a.m. for kindergarten through second grade. It will also be held Fridays at Winton from 1 to 2 p.m. for kindergarten-through-second graders and 2 to 3 p.m. for third through fifth grade.
POST FALLS

• Breakfast: 8 to 9 a.m. Lunch: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 16-Aug. 15. Seltice Elementary, 1101 N. Chase Road.
• Breakfast: 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Lunch: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Post Falls Middle School, 301 E. 16th Ave.
The Post Falls School District will partner with the Post Falls Public Library Youth Summer Reading Program to offer story times and activities such as book giveaways, arts and crafts and nutrition programming with Healthy Harvest through Eat Smart Idaho. Visit nutrition.pfsd.com for details.
