Strong bats power Mission Valley over AA Lakers

Cole Wadsworth and Landon Shoemake tripled and Cody Haggard threw six strong innings as Mission Valley downed the Kalispell AA Lakers 9-6 Thursday.
A Carter Schlegel sacrifice fly and Reggie Sapa single put the Lakers ahead 2-0 in the first inning, but Mission answered right away with Wadsworth driving in two runs on a second inning single to tie the game.
Haggard gave the Mariners the lead 3-2 two batters later with a single to right.
Mission Valley extended their lead to 7-3 in the eighth as Shoemake tripled to lead off the inning and came home on a fielding error from Kalispell.
The Lakers started a comeback in the home half of the inning with a run coming in on a walk, then a two-run single to center field from Teagan Dixon that scored Sapa and Hunter Fann to make it 7-6.
But the Mariners added two insurance runs in the ninth on an error and a wild pitch, while Wyatt Wadsworth shut the Lakers bats down to end the game. Kalispell committed five errors in the game.
Wyatt Wadsworth went three innings in relief, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out one.
Cody Haggard started and allowed three runs on six hits. He fanned five.
Kyler Croft, Cameron Brink and Ostyn Brennan shared pitching duties for the Lakers.
