COEUR d’ALENE — Tanner Franklin singled in Jack Pierce with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, capping a comeback and lifting the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen “AA” team past the Spokane Cannons 4-3 in the Lums’ home opener Thursday night at Thorco Field.
Tyler Voorhees led off the inning with a double for Coeur d’Alene (2-4), and scored on a single by Kasen Noffke. Travis Usdrowski was intentionally walked to load the bases, and Franklin grounded a base hit to center field to drive in the winning run.
The Cannons scored all three of their runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead.
Dylan Cook’s sacrifice fly scored Voorhees in the fifth to pull the Lums within 3-2.
Cook also struck out seven in three innings of relief. Lums pitchers combined for 13 Ks.
