COLUMBIA BASIN — Holiday shopping, music, crafts and fun await this month in the Basin. Here are a few things to put on the calendar.
Nov. 5-8
Piper Barn Show
A tradition for over 30 years, this holiday bazaar features more than 60 vendors offering handmade goods, home décor, vintage finds, clothing, gifts and seasonal treasures. The Ephrata Senior Center will take a busload there Saturday, leaving at 10 a.m. Admission $7 the first day, free after that. Lunch and dinner served daily. H.E. Gritman Senior Center Fundraising Breakfast

Introduction to the Indigenous Art Form of Beading
Local indigenous artist Amanda Keewatinawin will host a workshop on the indigenous art form of beading and how to create your own beaded fringe earrings. Hand curated kits and instructions will be provided for each participant along with a brief history of indigenous beadwork. Ages 18 and older. 5:30-8 p.m. at the Moses Lake Public Library, 418 E. Retro-Con
Power up your nostalgia at Retro-Con, the ultimate celebration of all things retro. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just love the classics, this one-day event is packed with vintage treasures and pop culture gems. Rare toys, video games, collectibles and more. Ukulele Jams
Ukulele jams allow you to learn or practice playing simple chords while singing along with instructor Jennifer McCarthy and other participants. Bring your instrument and desire to make music to the museum once a month and enjoy the benefits of singing and playing in a group. Don’t have a ukulele? Downtown Tree Lighting to kick off season in Moses Lake Friday
MOSES LAKE — Downtown Moses Lake will be a hopping spot Friday, with food, games, music and the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree. Oh, and a visit from Santa Claus, but without the sleigh.
EWU loses to Weber State, heads next to Montana
CHENEY — The Eastern Washington University volleyball team fell Friday to Weber State 20–25, 15–25 and 23–25, according to a statement from EWU Athletics.
Eagles to face Northern Colorado Saturday after nail-biting loss to Montana
CHENEY — Eastern Washington University’s football squad made a good showing last weekend, narrowly losing to No. 2 Montana, according to a statement from EWU Athletics. The Grizzlies jumped out to a 22-0 lead early in the second quarter led by Keali'i Ah Yat who completed 14 of his first 15 passes. EWU cut that lead by eight points, leaving the score 22-14 at halftime.
