MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Classic Car Club will donate the proceeds from its Cars, Cops, Coffee and First Responders car show at a ceremony today.

The event, which was held Oct. 18, raised $4,000 for local emergency services, according to club member Dave Robins. The money was raised through entry fees into the car show, Robins said, and also through donations from local residents and businesses.

About 75 cars were entered, he said. Music was provided by DJ Dale Roth, and the agencies brought some of their emergency vehicles for young attendees to check out. The day began with the raising of the U.S. flag on two cranes, Robins said.

“When they started to raise it, all of a sudden (Roth) popped on “The Star Spangled Banner,” Robins said. And it was just a moment of “Wow, that’s why we’re doing this.”

The Moses Lake Police Department, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District 5 will each receive $1,000 for their respective benevolent funds, Robins said. The checks will be presented at 11 a.m. at the City of Moses Lake Fire Command Station, 701 E. Third Ave.

“We’re happy to do it for them to get their due recognition,” Robins said.
