Carr, a junior, finished second in the state 6A cross country meet on Saturday at the Lewis-Clark State Cross Country Course at Lewiston Orchards, finishing in 14 minutes, 31.3 seconds and leading the Vikings to a third straight team title. Carr and champion Hyrum Tuft (of Rocky Mountain, 14:28.2) beat the course record of 14:38.8, set in 2022. “Wyatt was with the lead group the entire way,” Coeur d’Alene coach Emry Carr said. “He took the lead just after 2 miles up the hill, but just didn’t have anything left to hold off the final surge.”
