Spikers lose tight match to ‘Dogs, head to divisionals

The Columbia Falls girls volleyball team lost to Whitefish on the road Tuesday, Oct. 28, in five sets 26-24, 25-22, 19-25, 21-25. 10-15.
But since they lost in five sets, they won the tiebreaker over the Bulldogs, as they had beaten them in four sets earlier this season and avoided play-in games to make it to the divisional tournament.
Against the Bulldogs, the Wildkats were led by Rylee Sweeney with 14 kills, Annabelle Middlesworth had nine and Ashlyn Dunham had eight. Peyton Ross had seven.
Jezanie Brooks had 41 assists and Ava Scholz had 35 digs.
The divisional tourney starts Thursday in Libby. The Kats open against Hamilton, the No. 2 seed from the Southwest at 4 p.m.
The Kats lost to Hamilton in four in a very tight match earlier this season, 25-22,23-25,22-25 20-25.
The top four teams go to the state A finals in Bozeman Nov. 12-14.
