Upcoming Veterans Day events, ceremonies

North Idaho will be honoring its veterans and military in the days leading up to Veterans Day, Nov. 11, and beyond.

Nov. 6

Veterans Stand Down | 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., VFW Post No. 1675, 318 E. Mullan Ave., Osburn. Clothing, blankets, hygiene items, fuel and grocery cards available. State and county veteran service officers on site. Donations are welcome prior to the event with drop-off at VFW. Free.

Veterans Luncheon | Noon, Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel Event Center, 37914 S Nukwalqw Road, Worley. All veterans are invited to a luncheon in their honor. Event Center doors open at 11:30 a.m. Free. Visit the Coeur Rewards Club on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, and show your military ID for $10 Extra Play Cash between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Must be a Coeur Rewards member; new members eligible.

Veterans Day Performance | 6 p.m., Hayden Meadows Elementary School, 900 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden. Reserved seating for all current and past service members, but all are welcome! Photos and descriptions of military history of Kootenai County residents who are serving or have served would be appreciated and used in special slide show. Send to [email protected]. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Free. Open to the public.

Nov. 8

Rathdrum Community 2025 Veterans Recognition Ceremony | 11 a.m., Lakeland High School, 7006 W. Highway 53, Rathdrum. All veterans and families welcome. Special recognition to all veterans. Sponsored by American Legion Post 154, Northwest Guardian Riders and the city of Rathdrum. Info: rathdrum.gov

Wills for Warriors | 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Crandall Law Group/eLegacy Law, 8596 N. Wayne Drive, Hayden. Veterans and their spouses, including widowed spouses, will receive wills, powers of attorney and guardianship documents for minor children, if needed. Crandall Law Group and eLegacy Law will provide these estate-planning packages for free. Pre-registration required. The entire process takes about one hour. Coffee, snacks and light refreshments will be provided.

Veterans Celebration Movie Matinee | 1:30-3:30 p.m., Kroc Center Community Room, 1765 W. Golf Course Road, Coeur d'Alene. Showing "White Christmas," a family-friendly classic film featuring one of our area's favorite actors, Bing Crosby. Free movie, snacks and drinks. Prior to the movie, a slideshow of local veterans will be shown. Visit kroccda.org to submit photos.

Nov. 9

Bowling for Veterans Fundraiser Tournament | 9 a.m., Sunset Bowling Center, 202 W. Sunset Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Format is blind doubles. Bowl three games, change partners after each game. Prizes will be awarded to double winners after each game. Handicap is 90% of 230. Raffles with over $4,000 in prizes, 50/50 and a silent auction to bid on golf packages, hotel rooms, a golf bag, barbecue grill and Yeti coolers. Open to all adult U.S. Bowling Congress bowlers 18 and older. Entry fee $25 per person ($12.50 lineage, $12.50 donations to veterans). Sign up by yourself or with others. Proceeds to benefit Newby-ginnings of North Idaho. Pre-registration appreciated, but walk-ins welcome for $30 each if space is available. Doors open at 7:55 a.m.; check-in starts at 8 a.m. Squad time at 9 a.m.

Veterans Day Assembly | 10 a.m., Spirit Lake Elementary School, 32605 N. Fifth Ave., Spirit Lake. Third graders have been working to learn the history, service anthems and poems of Veterans Day. They have been writing thank-you letters for the veterans in the community. Doors open 9:45 a.m. Free and open to the public. 

Veterans Day Ceremony | 11 a.m., Veterans Memorial Plaza, McEuen Park, 420 E. Front Ave., Coeur d'Alene. The guest speaker will be Robert Martin, Commander of VFW Post No. 889. Honor Guard; complimentary coffee/pastries. Sponsored by VFW & American Legion Post No. 14. Golf cart shuttle available from parking area to plaza. Free.

Veterans Day and 2025 Distinguished Veteran Ceremonies | 11 a.m., Hayden City Hall, 8930 N. Government Way, Hayden. Celebrating veterans. Presented by the city of Hayden Veterans Commission. Free. Info: 208-209-1080

Silver Valley Veterans Day Ceremony | 11 a.m., Silver Valley Veterans Memorial, Railroad and Station avenues, Kellogg. To honor the brave ones, attend and give them a "thank-you" for their service.

Veterans Day Assembly | 2 p.m., Post Falls Middle School, 301 E. 16th Ave., Post Falls. Veterans in attendance will be recognized with their name, branch and years of service. Light refreshments served from 1:30-2 p.m. in the cafeteria for family members of students. Free. Open to the public. Visitors, please check in at the front office.

Nov. 14

Veterans Appreciation Dinner | 5:30-8:30 p.m. or until everything is gone, American Legion Post 14, in Mountain Lakes Bible Church reception hall, 2215 N. Seventh St., Coeur d'Alene. Italian buffet dinner from Tomato Street featuring Grandma's lasagna or pasta primavera with salad and garlic bread. Dessert from Pastry and More. Entertainment, silent auction, drawings, improv comedy show. Free, but donations will be accepted to support Post 14 and its work with youth and veterans.
