Nov. 6, 1975 – A NEW MASCOT!
The Sandpoint Bulldogs have played two or three years without a real honest-to-goodness English Bulldog for a mascot. But they have one now, thanks to the Sandpoint Rotary club and John Major who picked up the pedigreed pup in New Jersey. The 8- week-old purebred is from a long line of champions and the original owner thought it might be below the dog’s station to be a “mascot.” He obviously didn’t understand the sanctity of athletics in Sandpoint. Major looked for two months locally before buying the dog for $350 while on a business trip. At maturity, the new mascot will weigh 80 lbs.
