Forest health program announced

Current Topics in Forest Health is an annual program that updates forest owners, foresters and others on methods to improve forest health. Topics to be covered this year include:
• Insect Responses to Changes in Climate: Erika Eidson, Idaho Dept. of Lands
• Identification and Management of Insects and Diseases that Attack Seed Orchards and Tree Seedlings: Andrew Nelson, University of Idaho
• Bronze Birch Borer Biology and Management in Forests and Landscapes: Danielle Malesky, USDA Forest Service
• Top Five Weed Species Invading Idaho Forests –Biology and Current Control Recommendations: Tim Prather, University of Idaho
• Insect Communities Associated with Huckleberries in Idaho: Steve Cook, University of Idaho
• Reading and Interpreting Forestry Pesticide Labels: Randy Brooks, University of Idaho
• Larch Casebearer: Identification and Control Options: Gina Davis, USDA Forest Service
Current Topics in Forest Health will be held in Coeur d’Alene, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in Room 106 of the Meyer Health and Science Building at North Idaho College.
The program is eligible for six Idaho pesticide license re-certification credits, Idaho Pro-Logger continuing education credits and 5.5 Society of American Foresters continuing forestry education credits.
Participants should pre-register by Dec. 5. Register: marketplace.uidaho.edu/. A $26 registration fee covers handouts and refreshments. Registration forms are also available at local University of Idaho Extension Offices.
