Tractor-pickup collision injures Royal City man

With harvests wrapping up and farmers preparing fields and orchards for winter and subsequent spring planting, area drivers are encouraged to keep an eye out for tractors on area roads, including highways, and to give farm equipment a wide berth.

ROYAL CITY — A Royal City man was airlifted to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland after the tractor he was driving was rear-ended about seven miles east of Royal City.
According to a press release from the Washington State Patrol, Hugo Verduzco was driving east on State Route 262 at about 9 a.m. when he was hit from behind by a pickup truck driven by Michael Richards, 55, Othello. The tractor rolled, and Verduzco was ejected, the WSP press release said.
Both vehicles came to rest fully blocking the road. Richards was cited for second-degree negligent driving.

OTHELLO — State Route 26 is closed due to a fatality collision between a car and a semitruck near South Booker Road about four miles east of Othello, according to information from the Washington State Patrol and the Washington Department of Transportation.
