1 vote the difference in Wallace mayor's race

Forty-four percent of Shoshone County’s 7,125 registered voters cast ballots during Tuesday’s general elections. 

Wallace saw the closest races, including the mayoral contest where former city councilman Chase Sanborn (149 votes) narrowly defeated Shauna Hillman (148). Despite multiple attempts, neither candidate could be reached by The Press.

It wasn't known if Hillman wanted a recount. Candidates have 20 days from the date of the official canvass to file their request.

Two Wallace City Council seats were also decided. Incumbent Rick Shaffer (178) defeated Anthony Garcia (110) for Position 1, while Katie Watterson (151) edged out Courtney Freih (145) for Position 4. 

Smelterville voters chose Jeff Frank (63) and Rosalie Miller (50) for two open City Council seats, over Lora Line (38), Greg Prentice (23) and Brian Wohlers (23). 

In Osburn, incumbents Spike Angle (283) and Kevin Kessler (234) retained their City Council seats, defeating Jeremy Bergem (187). 

Gary Yergler won the race for Shoshone County Fire District 2, Subdistrict 3 commissioner, defeating D. Jeffrey Passer 1,096 to 363. 

Of four ballot measures across the county, two passed and two failed.
