Edward “Ed” Paul Kerns, 76, of Kingston, Idaho, beloved husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully Nov. 1, 2025, at his home in Kingston. Edward was born Dec. 22, 1948, at the old Wardner Hospital in Kellogg, Idaho, a son of the late Clarence and Iola (Fike) Kerns.
Ed graduated from Kellogg High School in 1967. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1969 and served until his honorable discharge in 1972. Ed retired from URM and was an avid hunter and dedicated fisherman. He married Debra “Debbie” Allison (Stroup) on April 26, 2003, who shared his love of the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his brothers Ted, Al and Roy Kerns.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; his adopted children, Sarah Tanner and Kenneth Allison; his grandchildren, Caelob, Connor, Zoey and Eva; and his sister, Kathrine Kerns. Ed’s nephew, Ray, holds a special place in his heart as well as his best friend, Mel Quimby, the three of whom shared many fantastic hunting stories, even during Ed’s final days.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Rose Lake Cemetery, Cataldo, Idaho. A potluck reception will follow the services at Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg.
