College of Idaho tops Carroll in battle of ranked teams

HELENA — Rylie Byington rushed for 198 yards and two scores, leading the No. 15 College of Idaho over No. 8 Carroll College 36-13 on Saturday afternoon in a Frontier Conference showedown.
Carroll (7-2, 4-1 in the West Division) got on the board first when Glacier High product Connor Sullivan returned a punt for a 62-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
The Yotes (8-1, 5-0 in the West) responded with 29 unaswered points. Byington scored both of his touchdowns in the first half, and Caden Young rushed for a 2-yard touchdown and threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Ames.
Peter Minnaert punched in a 2-yard touchdown late in the third quarter to cut into the Yotes lead 29-13.
The College of Idaho put the game away in the final period when Young rushed for his second touchdown of the game from 6 yards out.
The time of possession battle kept the Saints off the field; the offense had just 17 minutes of gametime. Saints’ quarterback Kadon Huot threw for 132 yards and three interceptions.
Carson Ochoa led all Saints receivers with 38 yards on four catches. The offense was held to 125 yards, with minus-7 total rushing yards and only eight first downs.
