Discover Kalispell is looking to entice Canadian travelers back to the Flathead Valley with a new program involving deals, discounts and specials.

“We miss our Canadian visitors,” said Diane Medler, executive director for Discover Kalispell. “For years, Montana and Alberta have enjoyed a close relationship with shared experiences and landscapes, like the world’s first international peace park. Through this pass, we’re inviting Canadians to come back to Montana.”

Discover Kalispell has created the Canadian Welcome Pass that includes 15 businesses and a mix of lodging, retail, dining and museums.

To date, participating businesses include Glacier Art Museum, Norm’s Soda Fountain, Princess & Buck, Waters Edge Winery & Bistro, Western Outdoor, Hampton Inn Kalispell, Switchback Suites, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Red Lion Hotel, My Place Hotel, Best Western Plus Flathead Lake Inn and Suites, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn Kalispell and Kalispell Grand Hotel.

“In Kalispell, we’re putting our money where our mouths are and making it more affordable for Canadian visitors to vacation here,” added Medler.

Earlier this year, Discover Kalispell stopped advertising in Canada amid trepidation from visitors north of the border to travel to the U.S.  There’s been a significant decline in Canadian visitation this year to the U.S. compared to previous years

This has come after the U.S. implemented tariffs on Canadian goods and Canadians have pushed back against comments from U.S. President Donald Trump about making Canada the 51st state.
