Nov. 9, 1975 – 4-H CLUB NEWS  

The Rocky Mountain Rovers and Foto Freaks 4-H Clubs recently held their annual achievement night at Community Hall. County Extension Agent Susan Gohs presented special awards and premiums to 78 club members. Earning special awards were: Mark Murray (achievement - Ford Motor Co., forestry - Intl. Paper Co., photography - Eastman Kodak); Carol Klippstein (achievement - Ford Motor Co., leadership - Readers Digest, photography - Eastman Kodak, safety - General Motors); Julie Reeb (bread - Standard Brands, Inc., Food nutrition - General Foods); Linda Palmen (dog - Ralston Purina, safety - General Motors) and Shelly George (photography - Eastman Kodak, safety - General Motors). Other winners were James Stoicheff (bicycle - Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.); Cheryl George (clothing - Coats and Clark); Kathy Dundon (food nutrition - General Foods Corp.); Laurie George (style revue - Simplicity Patterns) and Cynthia Stoicheff (style revue - Simplicity Patterns).

LEEDY NAMED TO CANCER SOCIETY

Mrs. Theresa Leedy is the new president of the Bonner County Cancer Society, replacing Verna Mae Davis, who was named to the Idaho Division of American Cancer Society. Dr. Ed Gould is the new medical advisor; Jane Haynes, public education chair; Murle Rogers, crusade; Carol Piehl, service; Laverne Hebert, public information; Maxine Arthurs, memorial; and Stella Fletcher, nominations.

GAMBLES HAS NEW OWNERS 

The Sandpoint Gambles store [201 N First, corner First & Church] changed hands Oct. 15 with sale by Al and Jean Larson to Ken and Denny Cafferty.

Nov. 9, 1950 – DRIVE IN THEATRE COMING 

Construction of a 500-car drive-in theatre for Sandpoint is announced by F.C. Weskil & Son Theatres through Floyd L. Gray, manager of the Panida. The new drive-in will be located three miles north of Sandpoint on the Bonners Ferry highway.

STORES TO CLOSE ON ARMISTICE DAY 

Sandpoint has traditionally honored Armistice day by closing all stores on Nov. 11. That afternoon, the SHS Bulldogs will play their last conference game at War Memorial field vs. the Bonners Ferry Badgers.

GIRL SCOUTS COURT OF AWARDS 

Girl Scout awards given at a recent Court of Awards were: Second class badges - Lora Lee Roe, Nadene May, Donna Norlan, Terry Ham, Sharon Wilkinson, Joyce Hodges, Mary Reed, Barbara Palmer and Sylvia Timoskevich; First class badges -Louise Stein, Barbara Breinich, Carol Critchell, Cara Lee Hupp, Joanne Pennington, Phyllis Quass, Latoy McKenzie, Shirley Cline, Carol Roe, Cleona Taylor,  Anita Cline, Marilyn Fisch, Janece Harbison, Mary Lou Hubbard and Elenor Taylor. Elberta Pennington received the curved bar, the highest Girl Scout rank.
