OTHELLO — Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. Dec. 5 for an open position on the Othello City Council. The new council member will replace Danae Valdez, who announced her resignation Oct. 27.

Council members must live within the city limits of Othello. All council seats are at-large, which means applicants can live anywhere in the city.  Applicants must be registered voters, US citizens and at least 18 years of age.

Applications must be delivered to Othello City Hall, 500 E. Main St., on or before Dec. 5.

Qualified candidates are scheduled to be interviewed by council members at the Dec. 8 meeting. An executive session will follow to consider the applications. After that, council members have the choice of appointing someone to the open position immediately, deferring the decision until another date or asking for additional applications.
