Leaf Fest to begin Wednesday in Coeur d'Alene

Coeur d'Alene's Leaf Fest is scheduled to begin Wednesday.

City crews will start the operation south of Sherman Avenue and make their way north, with a goal to finish by Dec.  5. 

Residents are asked to rake leaves and pine needles about a foot from the gutter/curb line to allow for water drainage. 

Leaves will be picked up only once, so don't put them in the street after crews have completed your area. Don't include branches, grass clippings, garden debris or bagged leaves.

The city collects more than 1,000 tons of leaves in about three weeks using dump trucks, front-end loaders and about 30 staffers.
