Magdalen Larimer-Atkins (Maggie Schertel)

Magdalen Larimer-Atkins (Maggie Schertel), 42 of Snohomish, Washington formally of Libby, Montana passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025.

Maggie is survived by her husband, David Atkins, children Parker Larimer 14, Bianca Larimer 16, Paisley Atkins 17 all of Snohomish, Washington. Former husband, David Larimer of Marysville, Washington. She is also survived by her parents Erik and Mary Schertel, her brothers Jonathan Schertel and Josiah Schertel, all of Libby, Montana. Grandmother Dorcas Schertel of Libby and many uncles, aunts, cousins and a multitude of friends.

Maggie was born on July 14, 1983 in Missoula, Montana, her earlier years were spent in Kalispell, Montana and Spearfish, South Dakota. Maggie and her family then moved to Libby, Montana in 1992. Maggie graduated from high school through Christian Liberty Academy correspondent school. Maggie was very active in the Libby Assembly of God church and youth group. Maggie loved her friends and family. She was such a wonderful daughter and caring sister to her two younger brothers. Maggie was full of life and adventure. She was kind and very generous and loved celebrating every holiday and every person.

In her adult years, she lived in the Seattle, Washington area. She worked many different jobs but most recently she was Director of Communications for Seattle Select Baseball Club, whom her son Parker is very actively involved with. She also worked with her husband, David Atkins in their business, Eastside Communications.

Maggie was deeply loved by so many and she loved with her whole heart, especially her children. She was their greatest cheerleader in life. She would have done anything for her children and husband. Maggie was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Maggie’s Journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and a faith in Jesus. Her passing has left a large void in the hearts of her family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her.

Maggie‘s love for adventure took her many places. She loved to travel and experience different cultures.

Maggie could fill up a room with light, laughter and hope. Maggie was very gifted and talented, and used them to bless others. She was committed to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered.

Maggie‘s graveside service was held on November 4, 2025 at the Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, Washington.

There will be a celebration of life for Maggie on Saturday, November 15th, 11:00 AM at the Libby Assembly of God Church, 105 Collins Ave., Libby, MT. Reception to follow at Wilkinson Hall.
