Dr. Harrop to serve as MMA secretary

Dr. Cara Harrop of Pure Health DPC in Polson will serve as secretary of the Montana Medical Association for the 2025–2026 term.

According to a press release from the MMA, Harrop has served as a member of the MMA Board of Trustees for five years, and been a member of the organization for more than 20 years.

She contributes her expertise to the Committee on Legislation, Legal and Legislative Affairs and the Value-based Care Model Workgroup. Dr. Harrop is a graduate of the MMA Healthcare Excellence in Leadership Program.

Dr. Shawna Yates of Butte is the organization's incoming president; Dr. Jason Cohen of Kalispell is vice president and treasurer is Dr. Michael P. Temporal of Billings. Other officers include Dr. Nicole C. Clark, delegate to the American Medical Association, outgoing president Dr. Ernest (Joe) Grey, and Dr. Tyler J. Thorson of Kalispell, newly appointed AMA delegate to the Young Physicians Section.

“The incoming officers and trustees bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the positions having championed access to medical care and the advancement of medical science for the betterment of patients on top of their clinical work,” said MMA Chief Executive Officer Jean Branscum in the press release. “Their focus will be on protecting access to care, promoting patient-centered health policies, advancing innovative clinical initiatives, and improving healthcare with relevant medical education and well-being programs.”
