The postseason run for local Class B and C volleyball programs came to a close over the weekend as the Mission Lady Bulldogs and Charlo Lady Vikings each competed hard at their respective divisional tournaments.
At the Western B Divisional in St. Ignatius, the Lady Bulldogs faced a challenging field that included several of the state’s top-ranked programs. Mission opened play Friday against Missoula Loyola, falling 3-0 in the first round. But the Bulldogs showed resilience later that day, outlasting Deer Lodge in a dramatic 3-2 loser-out victory to keep their season alive.
Mission’s run came to an end on Saturday when the Bulldogs fell to Anaconda in straight sets. Anaconda went on to finish as divisional runner-up, falling to Florence in the championship match. Despite the early exit, Mission capped off a strong season that saw them qualify for divisional play and notch several hard-fought wins along the way.
Over in Churchill, the Charlo Lady Vikings opened the Western C Divisional Tournament with an impressive 3-0 sweep of Seeley-Swan on Thursday, advancing to the second round. Charlo then faced a tough Manhattan Christian squad — the eventual divisional champions — and fell 3-0 in that matchup.
The Lady Vikings’ season ended Friday in a close, hard-fought match against Twin Bridges. Charlo battled in every set before falling 25-20, 25-22, 27-25 in another loser-out contest. Manhattan Christian would later claim the divisional title over Gardiner in straight sets.
