SANDPOINT — Seven appointments, five of which are reappointments, will fill the seats on the Priest Lake Grooming Advisory Board — a board that maintains snowmobile trail systems.
Bonner County commissioners approved the reappointment of Jim Peirone, Mike Courteau, Doug Cossette, Keith Hansen and Larry Bryant to serve a two-year term beginning Nov. 15, 2025, through Nov. 15, 2027.
Commissioners additionally approved the new appointment of Matt Spilker and Nate Lewis to serve a one-year term from Nov. 15, 2025, through Nov. 15, 2026.
Board members are chosen from the snowmobiling community, representing snowmobile clubs, organizations, merchants engaged in the sale or rental of snowmobiles or a member of the public who are actively engaged in the snowmobiling sport.
The board, according to its mission statement, is tasked with maintaining a superior and safe snowmobile trail system that supports the needs of snowmobile enthusiasts, contributing to the economic vitality of the community.
The committee is established under Idaho Code 67-7107, which permits the appointment of a snowmobile advisory committee to advise on the establishment and maintenance of parking and unloading areas on public and private property, in addition to the expenditure of funds from the county snowmobile fund, if applicable.
Every year, members of the groomer advisory are up for reappointment for a two-year term. To fill those positions, the board reaches out to local snowmobile communities, while also publishing a notice to priestlakegroomers.org, the Priest Lake Groomers Association Snowmobiles Facebook group and the Priest Lake Bulletin Board on Facebook.
