NIKE NORTHWEST CROSS COUNTRY: Coeur d'Alene team sixth at Northwest regionals

SPOKANE — Coeur d’Alene High junior Wyatt Carr finished eighth in the 5K boys championship race at the Nike Northwest Cross Country Regionals at the Spokane Polo Grounds on Saturday. 

Carr, who finished in 14 minutes, 48.7 seconds, was second in the state 6A meet on Nov. 1 at the Lewis-Clark State Cross Country Course in Lewiston. 

Coeur d'Alene's boys, third nationally in the latest RunnerSpace.com rankings and running as CDA Distance, finished sixth with 212 points. Jesuit High of Portland, which was ranked sixth and competing as Stumptown, won the regional title with 88 points. 

The meet was moved from Eagle Island State Park to the Spokane Polo Grounds this year, and will move to The Course in Spokane Valley next year. 

The top two teams from the championship races qualify for nationals on Dec. 6 at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland. At-large berths for other teams are available.
