MOSES LAKE – College football across Washington excelled in their matchups. Some of these matchups resulted in teams securing key conference wins while others help team morale as they try to finish the year strong.

Washington State (5-5) vs Louisiana Tech

The Cougars defense delivered a dominant performance as they stormed their way to a 28-3 win over Louisiana Tech. According to a statement by WSU athletics, this is the fifth time this season the defense has held their opponent to 10 points or fewer. Head Jimmy Rogers had positive feedback about the Cougs’ win.

“Exciting win, excited about the way we came out and played. There’s some things here and there that we’d want back, but that was a good win and a good way to close out the second half,” Rogers said.

The Cougars were productive in the first half, going into the break leading 14-3 and would do so until the fourth quarter. In the final minutes of the game, the Cougars ran away with the points and sealed their win with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The WSU defense controlled the game from the opening snap, limiting Louisiana Tech to a season-low 167 yards of total offense on 51 plays, WSU athletics said in their statement.

The Cougars produced three sacks, an interception, and held the Bulldogs to just 3-of-11 on third down. Colby Humphrey's fourth-quarter interception halted a promising Louisiana Tech drive, while Malaki Ta'ase and Buddha Peleti combined for 2.5 sacks to anchor a front that pressured quarterbacks Evan Bullock and Trey Kukuk throughout.

The Cougars are back on the road on Nov. 22 when they face No. 21 ranked James Madison at 10 a.m. pacific time and will look to play spoiler for their playoff hopes.

Eastern Washington (5-6) vs Northern Colorado

In their final home game of the 2025 season, the Eagles were victorious, defeating Northern Colorado 27-7. The Eagles defense shined with five interceptions that completely stunted Colorado.

“There were takeaways and fourth down stops, including one early in the game. We've improved a lot, as a team, since the game in Bozeman," head coach Aaron Best said. "We have put ourselves in a position to finish the season 5-3 in the Big Sky Conference. The 5-3 in conference is important in one of the tougher leagues in the Football Championship Subdivision. We found ways to get over the top. I wish we could have converted more of those turnovers into points, but I'll take 27-7,” Head Coach Aaron Best said.

The game started back-and-forth, as UNC took the lead in the second quarter, EWU athletics said in a statement. Eastern quickly answered with a touchdown to go back in front. Eastern carried the lead for the rest of the game, as the offense continued to produce, and the defense remained strong.

The Eastern defense grabbed five interceptions in the game. Jaylon Jenkins made his fifth interception of the season, and Jonathan Landry his second. Drew Carter, Isaac Redford and JoJo Maxey-Johnson each snagged their first career interceptions. Overall, the defense allowed 326 total yards to N. Colorado, with 195 passing yards and 135 rushing.

Jake Schakel made his first start on Roos Field, passing for 299 yards, on 31-of-41(75.6%) passes, with two touchdowns and one interception. Miles Williams finished with a game-high 94 receiving yards on six receptions.

The Eagles will play their final game Nov. 22 against California Polytechnic State University at 2 p.m.

Washington (7-3) vs Purdue

The Huskies ran away with a 49-13 win at home against Purdue Saturday. Adam Mohammed carried the ball across the goal line three times, a career high for him according to a statement by UW athletics.

“I thought our guys played exceptionally well today, a lot of young guys were playing, a lot of guys that had to step up. It was fun to watch,” Head Coach Jedd Fisch said.

Mohammed, a sophomore who entered the evening with two career touchdowns that both came this season before Big Ten play, got Washington on the scoreboard late in the first quarter with a one-yard plunge. He again made the end zone from one yard out early in the second quarter and added a five-yard TD run just before halftime.

Redshirt freshman running back Jordan Washington also scored his first career touchdown when he raced up the sideline for a 68-yard score in the second quarter for the Huskies' longest rushing touchdown since Salvon Ahmed in 2019. Purdue, which was held without any points in the first half for the second time this season, didn't score until kicker Spencer Porath notched a 41-yard field goal midway through the third quarter.

Washington's Demond Williams Jr. threw for 257 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown pass to freshman wide receiver Audric Harris in the third quarter. It was Harris's first career touchdown and Williams's longest completion of his collegiate career. He completed 84% of his passes and threw a pair of touchdowns.

The Huskies travel to the Rose Bowl stadium Nov. 22 to play UCLA at 7:30 p.m.

Central Washington (10-1) at Western Oregon

The Wildcats secured the Lone Star Conference championship after defeating Western Oregon 19-17. They came back from a 17-3 deficit in the fourth quarter, capping it off with a last-minute touchdown pass from Kennedy McGill to Logan Brady.

“We have to tip our hat to WOU, they played extremely well. That was a conference title match for the ages. I'm extremely proud of our players, coaches, and fans for all making the trip and showing up and showing out. We had as many fans as they did and helped fill the place up. This was a really memorable win for both the program and the university,” Head Coach Chris Fisk said.

Central Washington opened the third with a boom as McGill ran in a 29-yard touchdown to cut it to a 17-10 Oregon lead with 14:23 left in the game. The Wildcat defense forced a three-and-out thanks to a big Kuma Scanlan third down sack to give the ball back to the crimson and black.

Another big penalty on WOU after an eight-yard completion from McGill to Ryder Bumgarner put the 'Cats on the Wolves side of the field and McGill found some yardage on the ground and back-to-back connections to Ty Snider for eight and 11-yards respectfully to set up another Weber field goal, this time from 33-yards out which he drilled to make it a 17-13 WOU lead with 6:26 left.

A seven-yard connection from McGill to Andrew Molloy was all the 'Cats found as CWU faced their second fourth down scenario on the drive, but McGill powered his way to the first down and followed it up with a big 21-yard rush to force WOU to call a timeout with four seconds left. Following the timeout McGill found a wide-open Brady in the endzone for a 13-yard touchdown as time expired to win the Wildcats first-ever Lone Star Conference Championship 19-13.

McGill finished the game completing 16/37 passes for 157 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He led the rushing attack with 93 yards and one touchdown.

The Wildcats host Western Colorado on Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. in the first round of the division two playoffs.

COULEE CITY — Multiple basin athletes qualified to play in the All-State Baseball Series from June 27-28 in Yakima, with Almira/Coulee-Hartline graduate, Caden Correia being one of them. Correia said he was initially selected for a feeder game ahead of his state qualification. “I was at practice one day, and my head coach (Hunter Lee) came up to me and he’s like, ‘Hey, you got selected for an All State feeder game,’” said Correia. “I actually got invited to two, the Central Washington one and the Spokane one.” Correia said he decided to go with the Spokane feeder game since it was taking place at Avista Stadium and he had a desire to compete at that venue. Once he played there, Correia was informed that he was also selected to play for Team Baker in the All State games, an opportunity that he couldn’t pass up.
