Our birthday dinner for lunch is served Nov. 21, and includes turkey and all the trimmings, including mashed spuds, gravy, green-bean casserole, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and door prizes! We will be closed for Thanksgiving and the day after, Nov. 27-28.

See’s Candy is for sale at the center this week. Cost per box is now $30 – up 17% from last year. You are paying for the tariffs on cacao beans, and coffee bean tariffs mean we are paying 18.5% more for our coffee as well.

The U.S. penny will no longer be minted. You can’t give me two cents worth of anything. But I can give you a nickel for your thoughts. The cost of minting a nickel is now 15 cents, not a penny’s worth which is worth 4 cents.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays (except Nov. 28), with playing card bingo on the first Wednesday at 6 p.m. (elimination-style); and pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Mondays (no pass) and Thursdays (standard). The pool table is open for play 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays and Bridge and Mahjong groups meet regularly.

Bowling is on tap at 1 p.m. Tuesdays at the Sportspage; (casual; not league-affiliated); the Spinning Wheelers meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; call 208-520-1013.

A veteran’s service officer visits the center from 10 a.m.-noon on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Sit-down meals are available from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays, and delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. Meals at the senior center are $5 if you qualify and $10 for those under 60 years old or those 60 and older who don’t have MASTS forms on file (forms available at the center).

Upcoming main dishes include: Carolina hot dogs and tots, Nov. 20; roast turkey and all the fixings, noon, Nov. 21; beef noodle soup, Nov. 24; chicken strips with steak fries, Nov. 25; and hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes, Nov. 26. The center is closed Nov. 27-28.

The Polson Senior Community Center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 Third Ave. E. and has space available for your special event (large or small), daily, weekends or evenings. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email [email protected] or visit us on Facebook.
