With heavy hearts, we share the loss of Scott Opland, born Oct 10, 1959, in Duluth, Minn., to Raymond Opland and Elaine (Nastansky) Opland. Scott passed away peacefully Nov. 3, 2025.
Scott moved to Idaho with his family at age 4, where he attended school in Wallace and later in Rathdrum. He later worked as a steel building erector, along with various other construction jobs.
He is survived by his mother, Elaine Scott; his sister, Lori Nirk; his brothers, Mike and Tom Opland; his son, Alex Opland (wife Emily); and his grandchildren, Caden and Carter Opland; as well as his nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Scott loved 4-wheeling, camping, riding his Harley, fishing and playing board and card games with his family.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor and kind soul.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Presbyterian church, 6174 Jefferson St., Spirit Lake, Idaho — a gathering will follow at Linger Longer Lounge in Spirit Lake.
