Jim Lee Nethercott, age 68, of Polson, passed away Nov. 17, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson of natural causes.

Jim was born on July 11, 1957, in Driggs, Idaho, to Barbara and Byron Nethercott. He grew up in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and lived there until his parents bought the ranch in Polson in 1974.

He grew up with a love for hunting, fly fishing, cattle and horses. He graduated from Polson High school in 1975. He always enjoyed being outdoors in nature doing something.

A neighbor, Forest Sizemore, taught him how to saw trees. This became his greatest hobby. He loved the woods and the challenge to put a tree down where he wanted it to go.

He married his beautiful blond, Laura Talsma, on May 29, 1980, in the Cardston Alberta Canada Temple. They have seven children, Tricia, Tyler, Natasha, Chad, Trina, Ivan and Brent.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, he took great and loving care of family, friends, church and colleagues. He loved flowers, the mountains, life, and to sing. We will remember him for his love and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Byron, and three of his children.

Survivors include his wife, Laura; his four children, Tyler (Monica), Chad, Trina (Steven) and Ivan; three grandchildren; his mother, Barbara; and three of his siblings, LeRoy, Rockie (Cindy), and Kathy; and various aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with a funeral at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Polson. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at lakefuneralhomeandcremation.com.
