BOUNDARY COUNTY — A Boundary County man has pled not guilty to six charges, including two felonies after initially being charged with 24 felonies following a compliance check.
Camilo Huskey Lopez, 50, was charged Sept. 9 with 22 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of grand theft. He was also charged with four misdemeanors.
On Oct. 27, 22 of the charges were dismissed, 21 of which related to unlawful possession of a firearm.
Lopez pleaded not guilty to the remaining six charges at his Nov. 19 arraignment, including one felony count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one felony and one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a persistent violator enhancement and one count of resisting or obstructing officers.
Lopez attended the arraignment out of custody after posting a $50,000 bond Nov. 7.
According to court documents, Boundary County Sheriff Official, detective Nick Delavan, along with BCSO detectives Brandon Blackmore and Noah Cordle, assisted felony parole and probation officer RJ Weber with a compliance check of Lopez. The Boundary County man was previously convicted of aggravated assault in Arizona and unlawful possession of a firearm in Idaho.
As a condition of his parole, Lopez is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Documents indicate that the team initially allegedly found six rounds of .38 ammunition in Lopez’s pants pocket, a revolver in a UTV nearby and 21 additional firearms in the basement. According to a probable cause affidavit, the guns were allegedly placed to avoid detection.
Law enforcement additionally reported a bong and marijuana. Near Lopez’s bed, officers located a small bag allegedly containing methamphetamine. A Gatorade bottle allegedly converted into what officers described as a “meth bong” was also seized; the device reportedly contained a pipe with a brown substance and tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.
