The Lake City Playhouse production of "Little Women," the cherished American classic that has warmed hearts for generations, opens at 7:30 tonight.

Based on the 1868-1869 book by Louisa May Alcott, the story invites audiences to celebrate family, hope and the enduring spirit of the March sisters.

This production features Amanda Guinn as Jo March, with Gerry Buchan starring as Josephine March, who narrates the play. Now a successful author and respected suffragette, Josephine shares her story with a symposium, reflecting on the memories that inspired her famous book, "Little Women." Through her words, audiences are brought back into the world of her youth — full of love, challenges and the unbreakable bond of sisterhood.

“Little Women remains a perfect seasonal tradition,” Director Jessica Peterson said in a Wednesday news release. “It reminds us of what matters most: family, generosity and courage.”

The show runs through Dec. 7.
