EPHRATA — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a scam has resurfaced with callers pretending to represent local law enforcement agencies or court personnel and asking for money.

No law enforcement agencies or any Grant County court will call individuals and ask them for money to settle a pending legal matter, according to a GCSO release.

“If someone insists on immediate payment or personal information while threatening severe consequences like arrest, service cancellation or financial loss, you are dealing with a scammer,” the GCSO release said. “Just hang up.”

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Police Department officers and Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies will be waiting tables and serving drinks – and have been known to sing a few bars – in a good cause Dec. 4. The eighth annual Tip a Cop fundraiser will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Rock Top Burgers & Brew, 930 N. Stratford Road.

Law enforcement personnel will be taking tips for the annual Shop With a Cop program, which partners children with officers for an evening of pizza, holiday shopping and gift wrapping. All tips given during Tip a Cop will go to the Shop With a Cop program, according to information from Rock Top.
