Dennis E. Wheeler, 66
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 week, 2 days AGO
With heavy hearts, we share the loss of Dennis Eugene Wheeler. Born on Sept. 29, 1959, in Spokane, Wash., to Shirley and Theodore Wheeler. Dennis passed away Nov. 14, 2025, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he had been a patient in the ICU with cardiac arrest.
Most of his schooling was in Post Falls, Idaho, and at an early age, Dennis joined the U.S. Coast Guard. After an honorable discharge, he remained a strong patriot of the U.S. Military, serving as Commander of Post Falls American Legion Post No. 143, President of the Legion Riders, and a member of the Patriot Guard and an Organ Donor.
For nearly all of his life, Dennis worked as a carpenter, first in Hawaii, where he built his own business, then in several other locations, but lastly in his beloved Post Falls.
Dennis met his “Honey Girl,” Teresa Rae Turner, in Coeur d’Alene in 1997. On June 14, 2006, the couple married in the First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’Alene, where they vowed to love and cherish one another for the rest of their lives.
Dennis loved all water sports, most of all, he loved riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. He had a passion for his fellow Veterans and his community. He would often say he felt his mission in life was to assist others as best he could. He also enjoyed spending holidays, camping, fun and friendly get-togethers with the Priest River Families, whom he loved very much.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughter LeeAnn Lane of Cascade, Mont.; sister Debra; brothers Jim, Ted and Rick; his beautiful niece, Sadie; and other nieces and nephews; adopted heart granddaughter Charlee Freeze; and his four-legged companions, Dozer and Hartlee.
Dennis will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing his loving, caring, giving spirit, “Til’ we meet again. Ride on, Brother!”
As for Dennis’ request, cremation has taken place at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at Post Falls Eagles (209 E. Railroad Ave., Post Falls, ID 83854) with light refreshments.
Rather than flowers, his wife and daughter have asked that you please help a Veteran any way you can. In Dennis’ words, “Pay it forward!”
